Back garden fancier Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 Hi, can anyone recomend which ETS to buy? I know our fellow fanciers in Scotland have it in use, but which system are people settling on? I am thinking of getting it for next season but I think there are 4 different systems and don't know which to get. Are you using a system, and would you buy it again? Thanks.
Guest stevie-b Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 i use unikon as my 1st and only choice
Back garden fancier Posted August 16, 2007 Author Report Posted August 16, 2007 Cheers stevie-b, what made you choose that one?
Guest stevie-b Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 my m8 will don bought it first and was very impressed with it now our whole club uses it dry to go and see demo,s in your area ive seen most systems some are cheaper but by the time you by the extras to make it as good as unikon it will cost you more
danny Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 i use the bricon was very impressed with the demo
PIGEON_MAN Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 some are cheaper but by the time you by the extras to make it as good as unikon it will cost you more Funny you should say that Stevie thats exacly what people down here are saying when you buy the unikon and have to buy extra,s.I think you will find there is not much difference in the basic set ups but the unikon is about £80 dearer.
danny Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 hi pigeon-man i got bricon basic set up £289 well worth the money cant fault it
PIGEON_MAN Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 hi pigeon-man i got bricon basic set up £289 well worth the money cant fault it I to decided to buy the bricon system and find it very good. What i will say is that as club secretary i had the Bricon club system and the Unikon system to set up on my computer and work out and found the Unikon one the easiest, since we have been using ETS in the club i have found that there are some things better on one system than on the other and visa versa.
T_T Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 I've got the Benzing M1 system but havn't used it yet. I see for season 2008 there offering a Benzing Express G2 at £279 and throwing in an Antenna free. The M1 is expensive. I don't know if it's the best but I certainly think it's the dearest. If buying again, I would look elsewhere because I feel other cheaper systems can be equally as good. Perhaps I would go for the Unikon system.
PIGEON_MAN Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 Going on other Benzing clocks i would think their ETS would be a very good system but as you say the M1 is very expensive and i know when i inquired they told me the new one wouldn,t be ready until the 2008 season.
T_T Posted August 17, 2007 Report Posted August 17, 2007 I suppose it's like anything else Tony, when something new and different first comes onto the market, the price is at it's highest. You just feel as though you've been coned when cheaper versions come out and just as reliable. No matter what system you have, if the club officials are not competant in it's use or are not willing to use it, you might just as well leave it in the box. If a fancier is disabled however, then I think that could be a different issue.

Hopefully prises will fall as more people buy the systems but i suppose it,s like any of the other clocks that you used to be able to buy new some were more expensive than others but all do basically the same thing at the end of the day.I think there should be at least one person in a club that should look into the ins and outs of the ETS so that any member who wants to use it can.As a secretary I felt that it was my juty to find out as much as I could simple for that reason after all we had to find out how to set other new clocks that have come out over the years.
Back garden fancier Posted August 17, 2007 Author Report Posted August 17, 2007 Thanks all. I'll have to see some demo's and then decide. I'll see what everone else at the club is getting. Sounds like they all work, it's just personal choice and cost.
