I am getting geared up for my first season racing next year.........

Ordinarily I just join the midland national and buy the rings that way albiet more expensive, but as I will be joining a local club, I will need to be accepted into the club via my letter.

My concern would be that I would not be able to bcome an affiliated member until after the clubs AGM mid - end January.

I want to pair in Dec for the new 08 rings beginning of January which naturally leaves me with a shortfall....

Sorry..............may sound trivial but what is the usual proccedure in theses instance????

I certianly dont want to have to pay to join the mid nat: and then the local club??

thanks

You could join the RPRA as a individual member then you could get the rings as soon as they come out but they would cost you 30p each that way,I suggest the best way to do it would be to get another member to get you some rings when they come out and then transfer them over to you when you are a club member,if you have any problems let me know and I will get them for you.

Just working it out this way, rings would cost you approx 25p each, tranfer fee is £1.50 per transfer form and you could put 18 rings on one form,so depending on how many rings you want this way might work out cheaper,

Know that our club accepts members 'outside' the AGM, which is January I think, because you get letters of application at all times of the year, especially just before YB season, and there is a new membership meeting then too. Our latest member was accepted after Pres and Secy decided Secy phone members and ask if their was any objections to new member joining - which there weren't. 'More the merrier'.

Also our members 08 ring requirements were sought around May this year at 2nd or 3rd OB race marking. So would suggest you phone club secretary and see if a ring order for you can be put in & collected in time for your 08 OBs.

30p a ring thats bloody cheap our local club charge 40p per ring as does the NRCC

If your club is in the RPRA it is making quite a bit on the sale of rings as the more they buy the cheaper they get.if they order before the 31st of jan.they must be in multiples of 50 which works out at just over 24p a ring.RPRA rings are not sent out until 2nd Jan so long as they are ordered before 14th Dec.

i get mine 3rd jan

Should be the 10th otherwise you could ring a bird born in December which is of course cheating - technically anyway.

My rings are here on the 3rd of january and thats desperate if they are even a day late this year i will need to use un-natural methods to hold them back a few days so as i can ring u to  may be 10 days old

Its not cheating at all.

The RPRA release there rings to members on that date, one national club at least i know have is expecting there ring delivery on the next ten days from the RPRA to start getting ready for postage on 2nd January
