Not so much the skin,but I do often get a darker down,a shade of red/brown rather than that golden colour

Isn't there 'names' and 'theories' for all these skin & down colours in the nest? I've seen odd posts refer to plum, pink, gold? but didn't go into detail.

 

Agree with posts here that together with beak colour, they are indications of feather colour, but suspect for some it has much more importance than that.

how did the nest mate go last year,did u race it or lose it.

we lost him off the loft but he was feeding and drinking with the other youngsters...........bit of an invalid really and never for racing but quite an interest with our local fanciers. I will try to get some more photos on line as he develops .
