Winners come in all shapes and sizes, a bit like people I guess. I've never cared for large deep keeled birds, mine are medium sized, comfortable in the hand, but my friend's birds tend to be the bigger types. We both do OK and win our fair share.

What's your views on body shape and size... I can hear you saying - winning is all about feet on the landing board - and i guess the more they win the better they look... but you will have your preferences when it comes to handling. What do you reckon?

well i  like apple boded birds as i have found the that type race well for me medium sized birds .but their is always exceptions to the rule . head banger of a yb keel sticking out gets is self in to a major flap when you went in to loft 1st club 1fed .i have a wee wf hen with 3 firsts and 3 fed tickets .she would probably be the last pick if you where looking for confirmation in a hen . as you say winners come in all shape and sizes.

well it helps to have a nice type o pigeon when we are not winning cause at least they look nice, but the nice ones generally arent the ones you like looking at!! that would be your winners

balance  most important for the distance , agood level wing ,not rounded , more swallow like , preferably with a step after secondaries , well vented last 4 flights

short to middle , i would say all shapes and sizes

Depends what you want, apologies for being sexist but it's a bit like a woman. In my experience the cracking lookers have not been the type to live with, either for their nature or passion. Give me the lady with good nature and passion above looks, same with the birds really, give me a genuine pigeon before one that feels and looks nice. Of course if you have found one with all the qualities you are a damned lucky man and probably have similar qualities!
