pjc Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 well done but vic will prob calculate it as an improbable velocity!
Tony C Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 Are the winds getting stronger or your pigeons getting quicker :o Congats on your result
billy wilson Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 congratulations slug monkey you should call the pigeon pigeon basics jet a great result, keep it up. billy

Soon be breaking the world record Slug, set in 1962 New Zealand race from Waiuoro winner doing 2578 ypm.
Guest slugmonkey Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 what breed of pigeon This bird was bred from A Darrell Bybee cock ( which was bred from our old original Vandevelle birds ) and a Vandevelle hen that was bred from Ben Fichter stock This is kinda unusual for this bird as they are usally more of a plugger type of bird and do well in headwind races the other 3 that came on the drop are all Jannssen birds
Lennut Tar Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 definately not a head wind ;D ;D ;D how did you make that assumption ;) here. Well done Slugmonkey !!!!!!!!, a winner is a winner ;) I'm the shortest flyer in my Fed, (Love blow homes :'( :'( :'() I Only give away 50 odd miles ( 20+ mls/club) in a normal race. How are you positioned in your area ;) . Enjoy.
Guest slugmonkey Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 in the middle I am 108 miles there are some at 98 and some at 126 the wind was not as strong on the ground as you would think it must have been howling up high though where I am it was coming straight west and I live on the west side so it really must have been on my side to the south
Lennut Tar Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 in the middle I am 108 miles there are some at 98 and some at 126 the wind was not as strong on the ground as you would think it must have been howling up high though where I am it was coming straight west and I live on the west side so it really must have been on my side to the south ;) Thanks for that !!!!!!!! but one may assume ;D ;D ;D it wasn't a bad little spot to be in on the day where you are, at that velocity etc. "But also" you weren't going to win it with a duck/seagull were you. Enjoy.
Guest slugmonkey Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 Lennut I was thinking that my position had a little to do with it BUT the 1st time I broke it I was living east of where I do now and should not have been on that day so I am not giving it all to loft position I have a guy that is 5 miles straight south and I beat him by a couple of minutes and here the wind was straight west 10 - 20 so they should have been a little better at his place
Guest Vic Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 I did it again Another club speed record 2402 + YPM at 100 miles this breaks my previous record by 6 ypm this is the 3rd time I have broken this record in 5 years the bird that broke it last year was on the drop but she did a victory lap and clocked 3rd I took top 4 positions and hammered the sheet the next loft was 1 minute and 28 seconds behind which is like a mile and a half behind !!! this was our 1st race of the year I can't wait till next week !!! More like 2 miles behind, seems like a good candidate for a red card in the Liverpool Amal. But what overfly do you give each other? The Amal ruling only covers tight radii, unlike the StatesWhere 50mile differece is common in some clubs, Is it Not?
Guest slugmonkey Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 Yes we are over 50 miles of radius The 1st time I broke it I was over 2 minutes in front the velocity was 2393 ypm and was 3 ypm from national record
Guest Vic Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 A few years back, in the Guinness book of records. The highest velocity was recorded in Australia. But! they reckonned that the pigeons flew over vast areas of open land, during the hours of darkness under bright moonlit skies, from 500 miles and more. So really, it is back to imrobable velocities, once again. ;D
Guest slugmonkey Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 if you look in the AU yearbook this speed is slow compared to some of the speeds in there I belive some are 2590 +
Guest Vic Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 By the way, your red card in the Amal would have been for infingement, not for achievement. There are reds and reds, aint there? as we will find out tonight at Anfield. C,mon you Real Reds! ;D ;D
carlsberg Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 By the way, your red card in the Amal would have been for infingement, not for achievement. There are reds and reds, aint there? as we will find out tonight at Anfield. C,mon you Real Reds! ;D ;D c'mon the gunners
Guest slugmonkey Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 The only infringin I did was on the guy that lives up north of me that has a good loft location and favorable winds lol
Lennut Tar Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 Lennut I was thinking that my position had a little to do with it BUT the 1st time I broke it I was living east of where I do now and should not have been on that day so I am not giving it all to loft position I have a guy that is 5 miles straight south and I beat him by a couple of minutes and here the wind was straight west 10 - 20 so they should have been a little better at his place Now Slugmonkey ;D ;D ;D I"m not knocking you in any shape or form ;), I did say well done etc to you "Think about the Duck/seagull comment also". But I have know doubt you have heard the phrase !!!!!! Position, Position & Position in your travels :) especially in the short ones :P We had a YB race here on saturday also :'( :'( :'( as usual for the top end flyers again (I don't waste my time with them) Normal situation again, first 6 spots etc right down in the south east corner, 25 miles + overfly from the blokes up here."But then again" they are all the champions here "PMSL" & "LMFAO" Strange thing thou would you believe now "RAFL" they all used to live up around me at one stage & I was better than most of them. Now !!!!!! none of them must have liked the trees etc or the fresh mountain air "JMO" because where they are now !!!!!!!!! it is as flat as a pan cake & one of the most miserable areas one could live here 8) 8) 8) & for some strange reason ????????? they think its a terrific spot, & it's got nothing to do with pigeons ;D ;D ;D. Enjoy.
