Guest Posted July 11, 2009 Report Posted July 11, 2009 well 2 dispose of it after all your good work getting the poor bird in tip top nick again kinda defeats the object!! name the owner... Agree, shame the owner. > > >
Guest Posted July 11, 2009 Report Posted July 11, 2009 Are you jumping the gun that it was the owner to blame? Phone him and ask some probing questions and then guage his answers, if he does seem to be the type who doesn't give a stuff then you show equal concern by reporting him to the RPRA as not being fit to be in the sport?
Guest ShaneGate Posted July 11, 2009 Report Posted July 11, 2009 Actually, when any fancier lets a bird out of his?her loft,it`s a free spirit, same as when you train,or when you race it,it`s only yours if it returns to you,FACT.

That's a bit off tangent isn't it? Also you need to get your 'FACTS' right, the pigeon as long as it has your owner ring on it registered to that said person remains the property of the said owner whether its in the air, in the trees or doing 100 meters underwater. FACT.
Guest Posted July 11, 2009 Report Posted July 11, 2009 Not defending the owner, so I will ask two questions first. A) Have you contacted the owner? Do you know how long the bird has been at liberty? It could well be that it has had its freedom for some time and been mixing with streetpeckers. As for the ring, well the coiled ring could have slipped under the closed ring while still quite young and gone un noticed, hence why I would never use that kind of identity ring. Now if the answer to A and B are yes, then the owner should be given a lesson in pigeon husbandry.
Guest shadow Posted July 11, 2009 Report Posted July 11, 2009 report to rpra let the owner collect it
blaz Posted July 11, 2009 Report Posted July 11, 2009 name him if his birds are in that condition what happens when his club mates put their birds in basket for a race.i think all clubs should have a basket controller .my club has not got one and it pisses me off.
Guest Posted July 11, 2009 Report Posted July 11, 2009 Hi Shane, I think you need to contact the owner, as the bird may have been lost for some time. I say this because the first year i was racing i lost a young bird from off the loft. It to had a coil ring ( although mine was fitted to the opposit let to life ring) any way some 5 weeks later i got a call from a man who kept pigeons, who ranted on about the state my pigeon was in. But once i told him the bird was missing for 5 weeks. He had a change of heart. He did in fact return my bird to me. And i might add was gob smacked at how well looked after my birds are. So before you phone him/her up think. You dont know all the facts about this bird. As to the coil ring, i have heard on other occastions that it has slipped and gone under the life ring. Had you thought that the owner my be quite old and his/her eye sight my not be the best. Perhaps you could find out where he lives and go and take a look your self if he/she lives close enough But if after investigating the owner you still feel that the bird was mistreated you should contact the rpra & Rspca.
Guest Davy Fleming Posted July 11, 2009 Report Posted July 11, 2009 Some of you guys are needing to remind yourself of the accusations you are making. As the lad said earlier this bird just may have got lost a considerable time ago therefore it may not have been the owners fault no one seems to know at this stage. But at least give the owner a chance to answer for himself. He might and I say might be a good fancier and looks after them extremely well you simply don't know . Remember everyone is innocent until proven guilty. SO ASK HIM FIRST. DIPLOMACY IS A CLEVER THING ;)

LDS JOHNSON Posted July 11, 2009 Report Posted July 11, 2009 aint any of u had birds back after long time n looked like crap u dnt no its the fancier whos done it
Gail J Posted July 11, 2009 Report Posted July 11, 2009 I have many birds reported like this, when the owner is contacted they tell me these birds have been missing for a number years, lost in young bird races and the birds are most always in a state
Guest strapper Posted July 11, 2009 Report Posted July 11, 2009 Paul, NOT technically correct, It is the ring that remains yours until transferred ;) ;D ;D oh yes forgot..i remember some stating a slightly different colour(on the bird) on the pool sheet down our club...i say dont worry its the ring you race
Guest stb Posted July 11, 2009 Report Posted July 11, 2009 shanegate you sound very dodgy to me comming on with a rant like that. if your a fancier you should no that the bird could have been out living rough for a while and treat accordingly. when the bird has a life ring on it is certainly at liberty but not a free spirrit as you say , bye the way are you one of the birdie boys???
