The Game Keeper Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 the laffy daffies were originaly bred from vereye and desmetmathys pigeons by mons dhaenen and robert lefabre corn merchants they came into this country early 70s every one that got them won exceptionaly well many top names still winning with them at all distances i my self have had some fantastic performances with these very game birds
Guest Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 Made a big impact in S Wales, Lee & Cooper won from 60 mile to 600 with them at National level. I believe they came into the valleys via Massarella back in the mid/late 70's. I think the important sale at the time was their away day sale at Cascade.
Guest shadow Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 there is a chap in the doncaster area has won bigtime with them unfortunatley forgotten his name
maxwell Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 The first 6 that Bob & Grahame had were a mix of 2 George Josephs, 1 Daenehan x Verheye and i believe the other 3 were Daenehans, the Blues in the family were the Josephs these are where the 600 milers came through. In fact the No 1 pair was the Daehnean x Verheye Cock mated to the Joseph hen, No 2 pair was a Daehnean Cock (old Dark one) mated to a dtr of No1 pair. Brilliant family of pigeons some of the original ones from belgium also had a bit of Stichlebout in them as well as Desmet Mathys pigeons never the less brilliant pigeons. A son of the No 1 pair bred the Preece Bros One leg. Super breeder bred the Queens Cup Winner last year Bob lent me One legs father in fact he ended his days here and the first son i bred from him bred me my 4th in the Scottish 1 loft race when 4 birds dropped together i was last lol,, Preece Bros also had a Super Daenehan cock called Mullberry he came from Jeff Davies who had his from Louella in 70,s. Hope this is some help to you.

DAVIDL Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 hi grasshopper lofts, as members have already told you the laffy daffy are lefebre-dhaenens which are short to middle distance birds up to approx 350 miles.....and as the game keeper told you are named after corn merchants roger lefebre and daniel dhaenens. tha basic bloodline is desmet-matthys x roger vereecke, with introductions from beulque, m verheye and r verstraete..... and as others have said, they also have stichelbaut in them. i keep this breed myself and my stock are nigel cawood, jimmy richards and louella lines, below is a dark yearling cock bred from stock birds.......

Guest Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 The one grasshopper has is bred of alan reed's pigeons. I went with ron for them. I've only been to Alan Reed's twice and that is back in about 1980, at the time I remember he was flying very well with the Clerebauts to. He was and still is a top fancier, someone who doesn't court publicity and a real gentleman. (sorry slightly off topic, but opening a new thread to say this doesn't make sense)
BLACK W F Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 DAVIDL are the massa ones bred through the UNC lines that Soderland and Bradley had and sold to Louella THEY ARE VERY GOOD BIRDS WON AT ALL DISTANCES
