500mls and averages every time i have  wone the points cup meney a time not bragin but thare is somthing more specal timing in at 500mls on the shift than say wining the pionts  cup and to be onest with you you will never go to the bottem of the shet every week and then win the 500ml race not unles it was a disaster of a race the problem is triying to keep them going from first race to the last race wich i have done 3 out the last 4 years

Have to agree with you there - We are in the fortunate position that our pigeons win from the first to the last race and always prefer the distance racing. Won the 500 miles race in both clubs (Again this year), 2 seperate liberations on same day with 2 seperate birds, both flying over 14 1/2 hours on the wing........... Incidentally we have won thw combined averages etc etc more times than I care to remember, but I always judge our season on the nyumber of points and races we have won - not just one race!!!!!!!!

so if a fancer wins 3 races up to 150mls and the other fancer wins 2 races one at 250mls and the other at 400mls are you saing the fancer with the 3 is the best i dont think so

No what i am saying is a guy with 10 x 1sts who is 2nd highest prize winner in club against a top prize winner who has 4 x 1sts and a lot more positions ,the man with 10 x 1sts has the best birds in my opinion

also depends how many he sends, a man who sends 10 birds and has 4 x 1sts is better than a man with 7 x 1sts what sends 50 in my opinion there are lots of ways to look at things billy

also why is it better to win 1 race at 250 & 1 race at 450 opposed to winning 3 x 150 mile races ???

2 schools of thought points system or ave system

on ave system only need to have a smash  at longest race only 1 member clocks wins ave but maybe never hardly carded in any other race  thats not best fancier in my book

the one with most wins is

9 times out of 10 Jimmy the 3 wins at 150 miles in a fed will decided by wind conditions and location, were as you will get a good pigeon flying into a bad location at the races from 250-450 able to make up that disadvantage that the wind and location brings.

have to agree with you about the number of points you get per seson to se how your pigeons are doing in the club and well dun on your results but to win the over all averages in the club to me is more importent chears

not in my club mate !!!!

are you saying a man who wins 2-3 250+ races has better birds than a man who is unbeatable at races upto 150 miles

i am one of them mate my birds are very good upto 300 miles winning upto combine leval but they wont win above that if they got a lift half way back  ;D at the same time a man with 400 milers wont win sprints well not in my club anyway

so your good up to 300ml you got to have your doos in top form to win up to 300mls a credit to you but the fred started who was the best flyer in thare club you could win the more piont befor the first 6 races than the others could but for me and the rest of the club it gets harder to win after 250mls you could have the points tighed up by then and not race anothr doo untill the come back races if any so to me the fancer that wins the over all averages is the best in club

I dont think its any harder to win billy if you have the right pigeons infact i think its easier because the birdage is lower and to be truthfull the bird does it on its own providing he has been well looked after, where a race upto 150 the birdage is much higher and they have to be on the top of there game but like i said just my opinion !!

king billy tongue in cheek yes a wee bit banter  but i can tell you the UNC   WEST DURHAM and DURHAM   COMBINE are very hard ares to race into as most members fly on ellotments  any where from 10-50 lofts on them  very competitive and if your sprinters arnt top notch fit and bang on you wont get on the sheet never mind prize  look at the birdages  and its near enough the same at the water races  JMO  I think Jimmy knows what i mean

pleas dont take this the wrong way but do try and get doos out of 300ml 350ml 400ml and 500ml in a north wind i dont think it is easier the wind and loction with a littel motavation your in at the 150ml mark

and your wright horses for courses youn can get a distent doo to win a sprint but you wont get a sprinter to win at the distents

Billy i am telling you you wont win any sprints down here with distance pigeons but i agree a sprinter wont win at the distance ( i know this for sure  ;D ) but if i had the right pigeons like i uesd to have winning the combine twice in 2000 from the channel on hard days 400+ miles

i would still do it ,i find it no harder but you need the right pigeons

At the distance races i think the pigeon does the work, motivation, exersize training methods etc goes out the window the pigeon must fly the 500- 600 miles and to do that they must be bred for it  anyway this is my last post because i think it is going off topic  ;D

this is not about sprint or disdent raceing this about best in club not the plunk a pea sistem drop a thimble and your last and i take my hat of to use that can get in on the prizes

Can you lads and Durham and the UNC tell me who won the points trophies to become champions within the Durham and UNC and whether the winners were in a favourable area, have spoke to a couple of Fanciers from that area and each time they have a moan that they dont stand a chance because of the west in the wind and the pigeons coming of the coast, another instance were a winner at 450 miles is a better pigeon that wins at a sprint race..

So how can a points system be the best when it comes down to location. Would agree with points system being used in a local club but there are many clubs out there who don't stand a chance within a federation.

the thing is you no am dyslexic but wee will talk about that the next time am up for feading and anthing i have done with my birds i have done myself not just a scraper out for mr johnston

Bit dyslectic myself mate that's why i use the spell check invaluable. ;)And we all need to start somewhere Tam and learn from someone.Have you never listened to a experienced fancier and had someone give you advice when you were starting out.???????????????
