Guest kev d Posted October 1, 2009 Report Posted October 1, 2009 mate 5 days aweek is to much , i know i tried it this season racing naturals 3 times aweek is enough and 50 miles is far enough . cheers kev
Babybird Posted October 1, 2009 Report Posted October 1, 2009 Why don't you get them to stop halfway and do 50 miles ;D
Guest Davy Fleming Posted October 1, 2009 Report Posted October 1, 2009 Would not dream of taking them that distance mate (only my opinion) would say when they are ready for a bit of distance going to 50 miles max is very good and don't see any benefit of any extra distance ;)
mac1 Posted October 1, 2009 Author Report Posted October 1, 2009 would never send them 5 times,my mate drives a wagon and has game on stopping so he says :-/
Guest bakes Posted October 1, 2009 Report Posted October 1, 2009 50 miles the longest training tossed my pigeons get all the best.
thomasd Posted October 1, 2009 Report Posted October 1, 2009 do u need to train your pigeons after the racing season me r sill in bits
mac1 Posted October 1, 2009 Author Report Posted October 1, 2009 do u need to train your pigeons after the racing season me r sill in bits no im on about next year mate
Tony C Posted October 1, 2009 Report Posted October 1, 2009 A training toss of around an hour (40-55 mile depending on the wind) on the wing 2-3 times a week wouldn't hurt. A one off training toss of 100 mile as preparation for a race wouldn't hurt neither but as a regular thing I would say is a no-no.
terry mccarthy Posted October 1, 2009 Report Posted October 1, 2009 young birds 100 miles every 2 days yep no problem 5 days a big no no old birds at most 50 miles twice a week my old birds get 2 or 3 chucks thats it no more just fly round loft
thomasd Posted October 1, 2009 Report Posted October 1, 2009 or right from what i was told 50 miles 3 times a week keep them fit and if they fly for 1 hour around the loft morning and evening everyday keeps the fit
thomasd Posted October 1, 2009 Report Posted October 1, 2009 and you want your pigeon to enjoy the training and not to be sicken
Guest mick bowler Posted October 1, 2009 Report Posted October 1, 2009 Theres so many different reasons to train and so many different ways, it depends what you are trying to achieve. That sort of distance is ok as a prep for a big race or long race, no good for sprint races IMO. I never used to train as all the top flyers used to tell me their birds get fit around the house. It was then strange when i would pass them same lads out at 5am when i did train.
cheeseman Posted October 1, 2009 Report Posted October 1, 2009 30 mls 2wice wk would be fine tues and thurs plenty exercise in between for racing wednesday nd saturday, imo
Guest bigda Posted October 1, 2009 Report Posted October 1, 2009 you would only expose your birds to percey to much, and would end up not racing home but just homing when it was safe to go
