its my first year with yearlings  can anybody advise how long is it best to show the hens on basket day thank for any ansers

wouldnt show them on basket day but have them in on return, yearlings get to excited

I'd say as long as they know the hen is there on return from the race they will be ok.

Put the hens in then go in and have a cuppa then go basket the cocks up.

no hard and fast rules i put mine together about 2 ish fri afternoon locked in small part of box with nestbowl in didnt basket up till 4.30ish hens kicked cocks backsides in 1st race and won the race so as i say all down to u as long as u dont let them tread it dont really matter

agree with old yellow show them the hens until cocks go low in the bowl , gd tip the first cock to go low in the bowl and start calling will 9 times out of ten be your first bird home thats what ive found anyway
