Elvan Willgrass Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 I lost a youngster a couple of months ago, it turned up again and I noticed it had feathers missing on the breast. I thought it had scraped its self on the wires but it has spread and I think another bird may now be losing breast feathers. I have read the feather rot letters on this website but I am still not sure what is the best thing for a cure. It must be more than forty years since I have seen this problem

The full injection of eqvalan to 4 litres is what my vet tells me. Leave them on it no more than 1 day and repeat a fortnight later. Try lots of vitimins afterwards because it takes a lot out of them.

Clarkey1990 Posted July 28, 2007 Report Posted July 28, 2007 How do I give the eqvalan to the birds, dip them in it or what? The Eqvalan containing ivermectin is the one you dip them in.
Mike Lycett Posted July 28, 2007 Report Posted July 28, 2007 Best product for this by a MILLION miles is "Front Line"

jimmy white Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 The Eqvalan containing ivermectin is the one you dip them in. no, def not ,,,,, i have in the past dipped them in a week solution o f duramitex ,but even this is very strong for the birds , but this is mainly for lice and mite
Elvan Willgrass Posted July 30, 2007 Author Report Posted July 30, 2007 I am pleased to get information about my problem and having so many suggestions I will have to try them one at a time. I have not yet been able to get some of the stuff like the scabies cure and people in the chemists are stepping away from me when I ask.

The reason I ask is I think the dosage you are stating is way too strong and might do damage to the birds .I would say one graduation to a litre would be more like the thing. But genuinely interested to learn from your experience with the product!
