times11 Posted December 27, 2007 Author Report Posted December 27, 2007 thanks for the links. am working with a vet on this one, dont really like antibiotics. Have young birds panting after 5-10 mins flying (not overweight or heat related). no other signs of respiratory problems, otherwise look real healthy(droppings not perfect). have not responded to tylan, doxycycline or canker treatment. has anyone had similar problems.
phillips Posted December 27, 2007 Report Posted December 27, 2007 what do you mean the dropping are not perfect ? what are they like mate thanks jason

Sorry, penny has taken a while to drop on this one. Your first concern was your birds moult - are your birds still on their end primaries? If they are they will be both reluctant, and especially with No10 primary on both wings, will be virtually unable to fly. And they will gain some weight during this period - the extra effort getting (and staying) airborne will make them pant. I weighed my birds yesterday - got quite a shock I can tell you.
REDCHEQHEN Posted December 28, 2007 Report Posted December 28, 2007 Since all this trreatment started have the birds had a crop swab or droppings test done? There is a high risk of them having thrush (candida infection) and this needs to be checked for
Guest Posted December 28, 2007 Report Posted December 28, 2007 Another discussion has arisen within this thread and these posts have been transferred to a new thread on the same board - 'General advice on medication'.
