Guest IB Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 Worth remembering that vits and minerals are needed in 'trace' amounts only. There was a more recent thread on it which mde me brush-up on what I knew about it. One of the surprising things I found was just how little the body needs (talking about human bodies here) a teaspoonful is more than a year's supply, article said it takes about 5/6 years without it before deficiency condition appears?
pjc Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 as you've brushed up IB, and i'm sure many fanciers are giving thier birds more than that, what are the effects of overdoseing? Phil
Guest IB Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 as you've brushed up IB, and i'm sure many fanciers are giving thier birds more than that, what are the effects of overdoseing? Phil Phil, the previous thread was on food sources for B12. Claimed that it was from only animal products. Wondered how graniverous pigeon got its B12 and searched web for sources, and was taken to Vegan site, which gave good info., including the suggestion / research that gut bacteria actually produced B12, and was digested by the animal. Again in humans: too little pernicious anaemia, too much anaemia, one a blood disease, the other a blood disorder. Also for info, found that mine have an external supply OK - hormoform.
Guest slugmonkey Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 I belive brewers yeast has it as well I started giving brewers yeast last season and have seen a maked improvement in feather quality and overall feel I started using flax oil ( linseed ) this season as some say its a catalyst for the yeast although I havent noticed any diffrence
