j.childs Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 if i remember rightly it's got garlic, onions and iodine in, if it's the same one the birds came up a treat, it was just too much hassle to make though..Andre van der weil does something simalar but without the iodine in....
DAVE1975 Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 Dave Allens pigeon tonic 4 Whole Garlic Bulbs peel and chop up. 4 Whole Lemons cut into 4 pieces. 4 Whole Onions cut into 4. Boil 2 litres of water and add the above leave to boil for 30 minutes then add 3 dessertsthingys of colombine tea for further 10 minutes. Add 50 ml lugol iodine boil further 10 minutes. Finally add 1/2 kilo brown sugar. Cover with cling film. After 2 days remove lemon peel leaving the lemon in now stir and sieve into bottles keep cool give 7 days to begin with 30 ml to 5 litre of water. Then once or twice a week.
REDCHEQHEN Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 Just a thought - do you not think boiling would destroy a lot of the goodness - particularly out of the garlic

Guest j.bamling Posted October 1, 2008 Report Posted October 1, 2008 once done bung it in the fridge or it will ferment ;D ;D ;D ;D Chriss never put anything hot into a fridge straight away it is the worst thing you can do to get E.Coli infections etc and that inc Food in the Home also Wait till it has cooled then put it in if you want !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OLDYELLOW Posted October 1, 2008 Report Posted October 1, 2008 Just a thought - do you not think boiling would destroy a lot of the goodness - particularly out of the garlic i would personaly make the tea up and just juice the onion and garlic with the lemon and add once cooled down as you say it will kill the propertys of the garlic and onion and the lemon juice will act as a preservative , also i wouldnt make that quantity as will only keep for 3 days
Guest karl adams Posted October 1, 2008 Report Posted October 1, 2008 what a smell made the tonic up today and when my other half come back from work she went mad about the smell she has told me to stay out the kitchen and from now on she will do all the cooking so if the tonic has no effect on the birds at least i don't have to cook anymore ;D ;D ;D ;D
Guest bigda Posted October 1, 2008 Report Posted October 1, 2008 what a smell made the tonic up today and when my other half come back from work she went mad about the smell she has told me to stay out the kitchen and from now on she will do all the cooking so if the tonic has no effect on the birds at least i don't have to cook anymore ;D ;D ;D ;D that's what Dave Allen said, if you make this right, it stinks from the high heavens, and you'll be bared from the kitchen just one of the Manny tricks from D.A just the tonic eh
jimmy white Posted October 1, 2008 Report Posted October 1, 2008 Just a thought - do you not think boiling would destroy a lot of the goodness - particularly out of the garlic i think your thoughts are right ;D ;D ;D as boiling garlic in water will destroy the allicen in it , taking the goodness out of it.
