gangster Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 i do believe that albert tarlington flies them..along with duncan ferguson??...i think im right. i dont think so paul...albert babbington does and they come via joe 61..
Turk Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 did john halstead not just win a big race flying a van den bosche cock
swilcox Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 The best in my opinion would belong to Brian Ferris of Bristol not only because he has won many many Feds and Combines upto 6000 birds but the fact he has bred so many winners for others around the area, most are inbred to his Champion Endeuver and Jublilant, he has crossed a bit of Houben into them. Endeuver won 12 x 1st. He also won 1st Fed Saintes 410 miles last year with a van den bosche. Stuart
pjc Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 yes sure does a long time ago......try joe61 his lad has em... only if you want funny colours!
swilcox Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 I will actually go one step farther and say that the Frans Zwols pigeons i own are super fast, the only pigeons to live with them are Ferris Van Den Bosche pigeons so i have introduced 3 hens to stock myself and they are out of this world. Stuart
Guest grizzler Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 thanks to all of you for replying to my question...much appreciated. cheers...steve
Guest tom123 Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 john kirk of warrington also flew them well
Guest Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 i dont think so paul...albert babbington does and they come via joe 61.. SOME of Albert Babbingtons JVB come via Joe61 9now 62 ;D] but not all of them by a long way Mick.
BLACK W F Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 so if they that good why have most guys replaced them with other familys at one time they where at the top but not know look at the lofts who had them but since moved on so ask your self why odd ones still winning with them but just odd ones
swilcox Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 Black w/f lots of people just re-badge the same birds, for instance Houben was very famous in Belguim, now the front runner is Arian Verreckt, where did they get there birds (50% from Houben) but nobody calls them Houben. Frans Zwols are Camphuis crossed with Leideman (Yskout x Koopman x Minderhout) but to most they are Zwols!!!! To add only a small number of fanciers ie The Bert Hessions of this world have the skills to maintain a family, most have one bad year probaly due to health or something and instantly grab for something new!!!! Brian Ferris is amongst the very best sprint/middle distance fanciers in this country with Van den Bosche x Houben!!!! Results speaks volumes!!!!
BLACK W F Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 Stewart read the post again most guys have got shot because they have found some thing faster thats fact not fiction not knocking your mate if they win for him fine but he is one in the minoraty and has also brought a cross in tell me how many guys are flying them and winning in the UNC i will answer for you none but there again they never did
Guest pigeon82 Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 i have 2 van den boshe in my loft and they dropped with my first 14 in our fed racce on monday lovely strong birds just see how thwy get on raceing for rest of the year i could have timed them in but only timed 3 and took first 3 in club but the big racing starts on this saturday
Guest numpty01 Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 if members remmber i gave a load away thet were never crossed and could not possably as they were all together i kept two pairs ??nice looking birds but rubbish out of the cross you mention stewart the houbon would be the driveing force not the bosh side houbons in my view have always been good birds
pjc Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 Where has the art of knowing what you got and how to reproduce once again your winning birds gone seems now once they have gone you just bring in something else then when they are finished bring in another lot Obviously you need to look at bringing in new birds and seeing what makes good cross There are very few lofts that just keep a single family these days. I think most are looking to improve, move forward and will bring in what they consider are the right birds to produce something to meet there aims. Anybody who has just kept 1 old breed will have not progressed. It depends on your aims, to continue to win or keep a family of birds that may have once won? Phil
Guest Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 the further pigeons get inbreedthe worse they become for racing! therefore a cross is needed to spark it back to life! and when this is done people regards them as unpure! were my belief is a new strain is created! your own! these old breeds need to be crossed! which is were stuarts houben cross does well! but 1 bad line crossed to a good line will not make good birds so the vdb must have something

What is wrong with the "Smith" and "Jones" names, or are we all inferior to our Belgian counterparts.
