Any way back on topic creatine is a performance enhancer,

not really a body building block the same as protein and amino acids

correct ;) creatine is performance enhancing

its job in the body is to provide muscle energy availability, energy is provided by ATP and creatine allows ATP to become available more quickly by recycling it more times without increasing the ATP stored in the muscles this means that a creatine supplement will improve the capacity of training we can do hence improved performance

I used Vydex for quite a while and I used to talk to the Owner of the firm regularly. He is a grand talker, I'll say that for him. About the only things that I have found useful are his views on Carbohydrates and Vitamin "C".  Before I got involved with Videx I was like a lot of others and though that protein was the answer to everything. Well I can tell you for sure that it is not. It is an essential element of the feed but pigeons do not need high protein content in their diet for racing. Vitamin "C" on the other hand is very important to pigeons and is contant part of the diet of the Rock Dove. I have found that it is always a good idea to work out how a species has developed food wise. It gives a guide as to the essentials of the diet. I use carrot juice regulary on the feed and it definately improves the health of the birds. I believe that modern pigeon feed is inclined to be short of the natural elements needed by the birds to achieve top health. And I really do not like using synthetic vitamins which is what we get when we buy the over the counter vitamin supliments. I want the make sure that my birds have a constant supply of natural nutrients rather than the once or twice a week boost that I used to use in the drinkers.

In sport all medal winners are tested for drugs and a percentage of all participants are randomly tested for drugs, you just get a tap on the shoulder and you have to provide a specimen, once you are tapped you are not allowed to leave the officials sight. Regarding humans knowing better than pigeons what a load of crap the high majority of fanciers and sport coaches are overweight and out of shape they achieve their goals through their athletes and some will go too any lengths to achieve their goals.

Body builders will never win races and marathon runners will trucks but all types of performers have been caught using or abusing them and cheats are in every sport and if you overdose on anything you can cause damage :-/

Why would it be any different for some in pigeon racing :-/

We tried creatine one year with the young birds a few years back and we had a great young bird season, the following year we never used it and had an even better season? :-/

I think people are too quick to think a product was responsible for better results when it might have had nothing to do with it.  ;)

To evaluate any product or any change to your system it is necessary to also have a control batch of pigeons.

Divide the team in 2 keep one on the old method and introduce the other to the new system then compare results.

However they may be clouded by the quality of bird in each team.

I believe there are Body Building products which would help condition pigeons but we would need to understand what we were trying to achieve, what product would help us towards this, what dosage and when to use them.

Best just stick with what we know.

Oh and by the way forget the whey protein---I have been taking this for a couple of years now and I am still a 7 stone weakling.

take it from me, being a competitive amatuer bodybuilder... creatine is a performance enhancer and will not cause cramps!

it is not a banned substance and can be purchased in most high street health food shops.

some fanciers use it with success, but correct dosage must be sought for pigeons.

as for other BB products dont see much point, most of them can cause increase in weight quite quickly, water retention, increase in lean muscle tissue... sounds great but in excess would also cause weight increase! so for pigeons flying short distances at steady/fast speed could be very contradictory... jmo  :X

well said!  different types of exercise require different energy systems and a highly muscled pigeon would be no good you don't see a highly muscled marathon runner they are well conditioned and built to do the job andthey incomparison use similar type of energy systems in a race :)

you would imagine a company like vydex would know all this and done its research and know exactly what the right dosage is per what a bird drinks  im sure they have done the scientific research  and what the right amounts are  :-/

Nope, they don't do any research on pigeons and its impossible to make a pigeon drink the right amount of water which is why its so dangerous.

Creatine is used by both body builders and sold for pigeons - always wondered if it was performance enhancing.
It is a performance enhancer if used in the proper way,but it seems some on here havent got a clue ;).

I THINK A COMPANY  LIKE VYDEX WOULD NO THE CORRECT DOSAGE , I  DONT THINK THEY WOULD BE SELLING IT ON A TRIAL AND ERROR BASIS  :-/ :-/
