I came across this whilst doing a bit of research and a few recent natural products that have become flavour of the month are listed along with a few others on this link .

Effects of Antioxidants on lactic acid are signifigant and usefull to birds for racing. Different antioxidants scavenge different free radicals. There are antioxidants classified as water-based and those classified as oil-based. It is important to consume both types because they target different free radicals. For example, an oil-based free radical might attack the membrane of your cell because the cell wall is made up of fat. Remember, oil and water don’t mix.So, in order to protect your cell against these types of free radicals, you need oil-based antioxidants. On the other hand, there may be a water-based free radical in your bloodstream ready to attack one of your blood cells.Only a water-based antioxidant can keep this from happening. There are also antioxidants that work directly and those that work indirectly. You need both.Direct antioxidants, such as vitamins C and E, neutralize free radicals. In this process, a direct antioxidant binds to a free radical, rendering it harmless and protecting cells from damage. Once the direct antioxidant reacts with a radical, the antioxidant is destroyed and cannot be effective again.Indirect antioxidants work as catalysts. They do not neutralize free radicals directly, but rather boost the body's own antioxidant systems. This gives them a broad range of activity, cycling over and over again, that removes many free radicals. This group of antioxidants stands ready to neutralize free radicals over a period of time. They continue to be effective even after the indirect antioxidants have left the body.

what would be nice is for the experienced fanciers, prob old school, to use the above information and put together some sort of table with source, use, qty, preperation and doseage etc.

Think this would be good info for everybody.

natural propertys in food stuff such as vegetables herbs and spices can have benificial effects on your birds the antioxidant nature or some food stuffs can help the effects of lactic acid build up whilst birds racing ,  the lactic acid built up tires the muscles so ineffect the bird is aching relieve this and prevent from happening could prolong the flyte of the bird before tiring or coming down to rest    Enchinea a good immunity barier for pigeons is a good bad bug barrier and aids the urinary tract ectra and respirity disease , orgeo - stim a derivative from oregano obviously none of these new but well known but are becoming very popular because of there effectiveness , as the lists have far more items on i thought it would benifit others who like to use natural products for there birds

i put one teaspoon per 12 pint drinker ;) and just keep topping up  :) also i use garlic , root ginger and 4 juiced carrots but if have young bird sickness they need to have an empty crop before you start and i advise adding a handfull of garden lime to a bucket of water and let settle for 24 hours  :) the lime wont hurt the birds ;) then feed with wheat covered in live natural yoghurt and build feed up to back to a1 condition ;)
