Guest Paulo Posted August 9, 2009 Report Posted August 9, 2009 First of all thanks for posting this peter.j This is no cure just an expensive way of clearing a pigeons crop. The fasting and feeding light and more importantly the resting of the pigeons for a week or so has been covered numerous times on other threads, this is all that’s required. The holding of corn is only one symptom of this virus, don’t get fooled into thinking once they're eating and digesting proper they're cured...they're not. Treat them like you would treat yourself suffering from a bout of flu, the shits & vomiting goes but you ache like **** for days after.... rest is all important. Tonys right. Whenever ever I've had it I've found keep the corn off them for 24 hours until they have vomitted it all. Then a light feed of gerry plus for a few days with nufiycin for any secondary infection. Then a week of prolyte, gemphanx or similiar probiotic to restore good bacteria to the gut. The most important thing of all REST! YB's shouldn't have to be flagged to fly!!!
mark croker Posted August 9, 2009 Report Posted August 9, 2009 I have just had young bird sickness and got rid of it by No corn for 24 hours and only bicarbonate of soda and Epsom salts in the water at a rate of 5ml per litre each, after the 24 hours feed of BOS pellets and build up slowly
Guest Paulo Posted August 9, 2009 Report Posted August 9, 2009 Are those BOS pellets the ones with that orgeno stim stuff in? Who makes those?
mark croker Posted August 9, 2009 Report Posted August 9, 2009 yea, made by bamfords top flight, i use them for breeding and ill health, cant beat them,
