Tony C Posted April 2, 2006 Report Posted April 2, 2006 What do you think causes it? Do you think its a weakness in the pigeons make up?
square_peg Posted April 2, 2006 Report Posted April 2, 2006 DONT KNOW THE CAUSE BUT WE HAVE WON WITH A YOUNG BIRD WITH ONE TAIL FEATHER "HANGING" WE HAVE HAD A FEW MORE OVER THE YEARS THAT LOOKED GOOD APART FROM THAT BUT DID NOTHING. THE YOUNGSTERS THAT SURVIVED THE PROGRAMME STILL HAD THE "TAIL" AFTER A MOULT BUT WITHOUT EXCEPTION THEY ALL WENT DOWN AS YEARLINGS
deanbruton Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 don't know the cause maybe a weakness but if the bird is healthy leave it be. Has they say they come in all shapes and sizes. We had a yb with end 2 dropped this pigeon topped the section as a yb, yearling and 2 yr old and won 24 prizes in first in club with many fed positions. The flights were normal once moulted. So I say give the yb a chance only time will tell.
jimmy white Posted April 9, 2006 Report Posted April 9, 2006 i dont like a youngster with a dropped tail flight, i beleive theres a weekness somewhere along the line, i daresay the yb will moult it out and race ok, but the weekness is still there in its breeding, i beleive a yb should be no less than perfect, from the start of its life
jacksafc Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 I'm sure a well known liverpool fancier once offered as tips, to look out for "a cock with a dropped tail flight" and a "tic eyed cock",as pigeons to do you a bit of good.
