One of my YBs looked a bit sorry for himself, i noticed it was a wee bit sloww picking up the larger bits of corn, on inspection it had very cold feet.

Is this Cocci?

If so how do i treat and with what?

Do i flock treat?

Thanks

hi bob  i wouldnt like to hazzard a guess what the problem is with your yb but if it is coccidiosis? then you can treat it with a product called harkers appertex, if u type in harkers pigeon products on your pc then u can buy the appertex but i would advise asking a local fancier for advice before u do that or take the yb to a vet if u havnt any fanciers local to u to ask for help   good luck

Have picked up a couple of rules-of-thumb from the forum, and dealing with my own birds.

If you are not happy with a bird first thing to do is get it away from the others, pop it in a spare box for a few days and keep an eye on it. Feed it lightly and a light diet at first, seed-based.

Don't blind treat and don't flock treat just because one bird is off colour. Either get someone 'experienced' round to have a look at the bird, or as has been suggested use Pigeon Health, or an independant like Johnny11 on the forum to do a throat swab / droppings test for you.

could be many things,, but in answer to your question in treating cocci, you can use harkers coxoid ,[flock treat for cocci.], there are quite a few treatments for this, ,,,,,but i agree with the posts above its not neccesssary cocci ?? unfortunately sometimes you have to suppress the odd young bird to save the rest, but advice from an experienced fancier ,would let you know this, best of luck

get the droppings tested asap m8... no point playing guessing games with treatment if your not sure what the youngster has got, bacterial and fungal infections are rife amongst racing pigeons these days and often the early symptons can thro u off track... get it wrong and it could be through your entire team in a matter couple days!

could be manmy things, what u must watch with young birds is if there is any moss on the rooftops they eat it and it makes them sick and look terrible, cant understand why they seem to eat it as it does them more harm than good,

Mine eat moss all the time from the roof tops and I have never had a single problem with them (touch wood)
