Roland Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 Well I had never seen this before. Went and saw a pigeon youngster about eady to be rung. First one fine. When I picked the second up to ring, I was put back a mite. It was dryish, and the feet / legs were just skin and bone anddry like a crackle piece of bacon rind. I told him what I thought, that I felt it was rubbish, and best not kept.... It also had a slight cough when picked up! It doesn't now, but said I'd ask on here for any views. Crop was full too, but was very gaunt looking.
Roland Posted September 6, 2007 Author Report Posted September 6, 2007 Yep the feet were like sparrows, thoiugh a mite thicker, any ideas what to tell him? He no longer has that one, but does he mate them again?
jimmy white Posted September 7, 2007 Report Posted September 7, 2007 sounds like the" crit of the litter"if the other one was fine ,, don't think id pair the same pair again
Roland Posted September 8, 2007 Author Report Posted September 8, 2007 True Jimmy, was strange though, dry, feathers etc. just didn't feel right, but hard to know just what was what, but the legs and feet being so 'Meat less' and thin persuaeded me he didn't eed it ...
Guest Posted September 10, 2007 Report Posted September 10, 2007 I had a father and daughter mating this year which didn't go at all well, in every nest the hen of the pair was as described, and half the size of the cock. Hens [2] never made it out of the nest [culled] and I lost the cocks [2] off-the-top. > Think when you're faced with that, you don't pair those birds together again.

AYE THAT WOULD BE THE LOGICAL THING TO DO BRUNO, DO NOT REPAIR THEM
Roland Posted September 10, 2007 Author Report Posted September 10, 2007 Don't know how to repair them.... must have a word with a 'Handy man' I guess lol... : ;D No that pair is finished together.
