MMMMMMMmmmmmmm  healthy ??????? not in my view. Lets just say now, they were 6 months old when he mated them up at xmas. Yes !!!!!!! they may have been a bit  immature then, but they then reared some youngsters etc I believe, which should have helped them in the laying proccess, being that bit more mature by then shall we say. 11 months old now ?????? they should be raring to go, for what I know & yet still no eggs. "Cut your losses".

Did all the squeakers they fostered ???????? survive etc, there could be an answer there.

PS, Forget all those magic formulas etc, to help them breed at there age. It just might be time for the pot  ;) ;) ;) or back in the race team.

Enjoy.

Should be mature enough at that age, I had 6 very late breds to try this year, only 6 weeks old approx when I collected them in October and although they wernt paired for the first round they were put out in a covered aviary with pipo boxes and they bred quite happily and well from mid February cold winds and all! I would check the health situation if they were mine something has to be wrong there.

Split them for a week and dont let them see another pigeon and cut back the food on the hen.

yeah he's doing that at the moment...... thanx for all the input everyone  ;)

best of luck for the weekend everyone happy racing ;)

i find this a little strange as their cerainly old enough, nearly a year old , and theve reared a yb, usually when they do this ,they carry on with the cycle i,e lay when yb,s are about 3 weeks approx, ,,they cant be too fat ,after rearing youngsters , if it was just the one hen , i would say , could be a barren hen,,but three hens barren ,,unlikely,

i take it the cocks are fertile and reasonably young??? other than that , i could only suggest as above,,,,,, or get them checked by a good avian vet, to make sure their not carriers of paratyphoid [which can be undetected by looking at them] or never had paratyphoid [or their parents] as this can effect their "egg laying machinary "or cause dead in the shell, or inferile eggs , even this sounds doubtfull ,if the yb,s theve reared are in good health,,, so a strange one :)

i actually went over to him today.... couldn't get a chance before.... but to me the hens are as healthy as any of me own or anyone elses at that matter, to me an again it's only my opinion but to me they were on the wrong diet, i told the lad in question to "cut" them down on the grub and maybe feed them barley!!!!! this he done ive been on the fone nearly everyday to him so he told me that they were losing loads.... so as i said i took a visit to him an as woz expected the hens were and are still over weight but i have know doubt that this lad will get it sorted an that the hens will lay no probs once they loose the weight.... will keep yez posted thanks for the replies lads/ladies
