ive used Virkon ,s to disinfect  the loft

This will kill off any germs that are in your loft but not help your birds, tell your vet to get his finger out or use another one and report to him how your birds were maltreated :-/

soul distroying as it is cull clean start again but inject fanciers moan about injecting yearly but this is and does happen and its not nice

Unless they are tested it could be a number of things not just paramyxo :-/

anyone whos seen this disease knows what it looks like the vet in question obviously has not seen this disease before and i agree has treated blind , and precribed a broadspectrum antibiotic that has no effect on this disease whatsoever , id pay them  a visit with these findings if were me , i use a hygene labority vet who specialises in Avian and does  tests on all lifestock goverment approved as well i believe

Take a sick bird with you or a cross section of the droppings from the loft, they normally want a live pigeon to post mortem :-/

I would probably think that is it Paramyxo, BUT as Dovescot said it could be a number of Ailments - If I were you I would contact Retford Poultry - Get the droppings tested and have some blood tests taken (blood tests are the only way you can detect a virus) - In the meantime, feed the other birds a light feed with electrolight in the water.

Some birds can get over Paramyxo (that is fact) - and after they have recovered can go on to breed without passing the virus onto their offspring. - What I would do is see if the birds recover, isolate the ones that do look bad, vaccinate the others, then see how it goes.

Best of luck - trust me you are better having paramyxo, rather than, paratyphoid or Adeno Virus, these could wipe you out!

get rid of all the birds and deep clean the loft preferably with a flame gun before putting any more birds in it

rather than just finding another vet that could be just as bad or worse, have a look for a defra aproved vet or an avian specialist!

The symptoms you describe could be caused by a number of different illnesses, including at least two viral and two bacterial.

First thing is to isolate this bird from the rest. Put in a box by itself with no contact with the others. Next, you have got to get an urgent appointment with an avian vet - a vet that specialises in birds - only the vet can tell what is really wrong with the bird, what is really causing it, and what to do about it.

Would that not be the last resort and only when he finds out what is wrong with them first, You can still scorch the loft and treat the birds if it is treatable surely, remember this guy is new to pigeons and culling all his stock may finnish him off from keeping birds in the future :-/
