It takes 6 months approx for the wing to moult out.

 

The 1st x 6 primaries are pretty quick growing, ranging from 10-14 days each (when the flight is 3/4 grown, the next in line usually drops).

 

Nos 7 to 10 take a lot longer, think about 3 weeks for No7, No8 is longer still and No10 is longest at 4/5 weeks, during which the bird is grounded for most of the time.

One of our youngsters last year moulted 8th, 9th and 10th flights together - we just thought he was lazy when he wouldn't fly  :B

 

but having said that he is lazy now

i checked my birds wings today and some of my young birds have onley got 5 more flights to slip will they have sliped intime for the first young bird races

they should not be far off,seen them moult a lot faster than mentioned above.

may be if i give them some small seeds and more light it may help

if  i give my birds a good mix of small seeds     (linseed Niger rape millit sunflower hearts canary seed hemp  wild bird seed  and red band would this help them with the moult  if so how much should i give them

Without being carved in stone the above is pretty accurate,with exceptions in some cases,ie a youngster being worked hard,slower,a youngster not working at all quicker.
