Novice Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 I think there are various blends of up to 4 or 5 oils available commercially. They carry full instructions. Tried them this year and had my worst season ever but this may be more related to other circumstances than to using the oils.
chichichi Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 we use oils here quite regularly,, we use 9 oils for the racing,, this is a blend of 9 oils that help the birds health,, we also use garlic oil throughout the winter every sunday on the corn,, two teaspoons per kilo of food.. we have used flax oil but find it a little strong,, would rather give linseed in mix when moulting,, goodluck.. normally 2 teaspoons on 1 kg of corn for us.. goodluck ant
jimbobboy Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 We use linseed oil for our paint brushes and paints and cod liver oil soaked in our ration of food the day after racing. Helps their recovery and lining of their crops!!!!! Jimbobboy USA
jimmy white Posted August 28, 2008 Report Posted August 28, 2008 in my opinion the" real thing is better" touch of linseed whilst moulting, def, helps ,,,,too much will give them the runs , a handfull is enough garlic cloves ,, just mixed with water [if too strong , the birds wont drink it] cod liver oil [allthough a little is ok] can soon go off, though, in the summer months vit e the sunshine vit
swilcox Posted August 28, 2008 Report Posted August 28, 2008 This is basically the only additive i use along with a bit of Brewer Yeast (max 1 a week) and some powdered vits like Optimix or Dynamik. I have always used 4 Oils from Herbots, its a blend of the 4 oils and i apply it 3 times a week, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday. I never add anything to the water except electrolytes on sunday if required. When i played top rugby we had a fitness coach that worked with the Aussie Swimming Team, he told us that the only supplement that increased performance was Vit E, Vit B could also help but margainly, hence my belief in oils. In the last 20 races my birds have won 70 or more prizes in the top 6 and 40 plus prizes in the top 30 of the combine upto 6000b, in my opinion they dont need owt else!!! Most bottles are gimicks!!!! Stuart
