ally mac Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Just notice a hen with a wee bit of blood in its nostril. She had a fly for half an hour and I noticed it when I was feeding it. No signs of any impact and bird seems fine. Any ideas? Al.
just ask me Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 could be a wee bit of fighting on the roof had the same other day two birds took a dislikeing to one another hope its something as simple as that
Guest Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Are you sure it was blood, might just be the cock feeding the hen on the nest.
ally mac Posted March 4, 2009 Author Report Posted March 4, 2009 They are split from the cocks at the moment and it was definately blood. Just on normal rations just now, what are you thinking Jason?

Just on normal rations just now, what are you thinking Jason? 5 yrs ago i had something simlar mate with the pigeons noticing blood in their nostrils and in some cases blood in their eyes it turned out to be head worms i could be wrong with this as i havent seen the bird just check a few more of your birds and see if there are anymore signs all the best jason

blaz Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 do you use the same treatment for all worms ie head or gut
Guest bigda Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 i would think one spot, would take care of that problem
Guest Freebird Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 i would think one spot, would take care of that problem O.K. bigda put us in the picture, PLEASE. Is this an external parasite? Or just worms in general?
Guest bigda Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 its a parasite, but it would not make its nose bleed, very itchy i suppose, and the bird might have scratched the inside its self with its toe, as there aint a lot in a birds head for it to bleed other than the flesh in the inner of its nostril :-/
Guest chrisss Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 could the blood be coming up from the lungs?
john nico Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 maybe its been snorting a bit ov coke with a 50 pound note :) :) ;)
blaz Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 just seen one of my hens try get a bit of egg shell out of her mouth by scratching it out i would be easy to catch a nostril with a claw just a shot in the dark
