Skull Lofts Posted April 28, 2009 Report Posted April 28, 2009 Hi all Today my birds came from a training flight with +- 1000 birds. They did well. When i finished feeding them i noticed one looking a bit off. When i checked the mouth, it had canker and i immediatly removed it to a confinement and gave it a Canker Tablet which concist out of 100mg Metronidazole. My birds havent received any medication up to now. My Questions: 1. Should i treat the whole flock now for canker? 2. What am i to do from now on? Skull

Skull no need to worry ,just treat all of them...why treat all?....well most probably the bird in question has drunk out of the same drinker as the rest.im going by that maybe you havent treated for a while, this is why the bird is showing signs of canker. if you just treat one bird your find that in the next few days your spot another. a few would just treat singular, but most problems are brought on through the drinker ,where an infected bird has drunk. can you describe the signs(your bird) of canker as you say?
Guest Posted April 28, 2009 Report Posted April 28, 2009 As a precaution I would treat the whole flock
mazzie Posted April 28, 2009 Report Posted April 28, 2009 be careful had that a few years ago , but it turned out to be pigeon pox and i was treating for canker
greenlands Posted April 28, 2009 Report Posted April 28, 2009 Hi Skull,If I was you I would treat the whole team of birds, but I would use a liquid or a powder.Using tablets only clears tricho by contact that's why it is advised to give tablets on a empty crop.JMO.Lindsay

Skull [1] in my opinion, would flock treat for 5 days with chevi-col [dimetridazole 1.0g] then one day multi-vits [2] would keep them in during this time,,, should be raring to go after this,,,good luck
