Wattles peeling

Any ideas ? Its like the top layer of the wattles is peeling off, never seen this before have not got a clue, is it bad health ? bird seems fine, exercises well, look forward to your coments

I have a youngster with part of the wattle hanging off.

It also has an injury to it's chest.

I thought it had a narrow escape from a BOP and that was what caused the damage.
