No, do not give them grit. And don't forget to use yogurt, probiotic or multivits after the treatment.

you would if birds were dying mate.

Hi, you know the specific cause of the illness so whoever diagnosed this should say whether or not to give grit/minerals.

As far as I am aware the antibiotics which you cannot do this with are the mycin group. Amoxy is not a member of this group.

I admit I have been known to be wrong on occasions so it is worthwhile withdrawing grit/minerals as a precaution.

Good luck

hi another thing...do not give any sort of multi vits untill the treatment is over.

this could only feed the illness.

Don't let the birds out when on treatment as they will peck about in the garden  ;).

can anyone tell me if you can give grit to the birds when on amoxicillin as i know theres a few antibiotics that you shouldnt, thanks.

what are u treating ur birds 4 ?

i wont treat in the moult as Dr van de sluis advise not to treat for paratypoid (dont know how to spell it)in the molt he says it effects the proper growth, amoxicillin does they same so i would stay away from it, i know that it is just a penacillin for bacterial infection, but thats just me, i dont know if it would effect it,

The thing is, if my birds mess up on the molt they cant get another chance due to room, so they have to go anyway

hi mark, what would you do if your top birds started to die, surely you would treat them regardless if they had a poor moult.
