friendsloft Posted December 29, 2006 Report Posted December 29, 2006 While looking round a health shop with the wife I noticed this product called propolis, as anybody used it for their pigeons ? friendsloft
Wiley Posted December 29, 2006 Report Posted December 29, 2006 havent used it for the birds but its a natural product used by bees to seal cracks, and is believed to show antibiotic and antifungal properties but thats is dependent on its composition. Also been used for skin burns and for sore throats
Mike Lycett Posted December 29, 2006 Report Posted December 29, 2006 Propolis was a product marketyed by Gem Supplements not so long back - all to do with bees/honey etc... Never used it personally
Wiley Posted December 29, 2006 Report Posted December 29, 2006 all to do with bees/honey i wouldnt call it honey mike its more like a wax resin to be infact your right used by bees but they use it as like a cement to seal cracks or open spaces in the hive. The colour also varies from red, green and even brownish colour each composite has different propoties.
friendsloft Posted December 29, 2006 Author Report Posted December 29, 2006 thanks guys did speak to the chap in the shop, as you said Wiley it does contain antibiotics, and he saw no reason why it could not be given to the birds,a couple of drops dissolved in the drinking water once aweek would help the immune system out ie kill of any harmful bacteria friendsloft
