Guest Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 Personally I would use a drop of Cod Liver oil on the feed. I agree with Bruno here, I think all the Snake Oil Salesman have moved to the Pigeon Sport. Linda Do you give cod liver oil on the feed every day? is it better than giving cod oil tablets?
Guest Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 Once a week Craig, you can usually buy liquid from the Pigeon Feed Stores
Guest Posted December 26, 2005 Report Posted December 26, 2005 Do you think it's dangerous to give birds, which is Horse products? If you don't think no harm for birds, but how much do you give them in the water E.g one tea spoon or something like that, please
schouwman71 Posted December 26, 2005 Report Posted December 26, 2005 ive used red cell for a few years now and find it is best been put on their corn and left for a hour or so as it dries up quickly,i first started putting it in the water but found it gave them watery droppings, but when put on there food they were a lot better and you could tell it worked on them. its a great product and i will always use it.
Chatrace Posted December 26, 2005 Report Posted December 26, 2005 use just enough to tint the water, A teaspoon to a gallon is almost to strong 1/2 teaspoon would be plenty.we like to use it 2 days before basketing which is 3 days before a release
Guest slugmonkey Posted December 27, 2005 Report Posted December 27, 2005 I use it on the feed before the season starts
Guest Posted January 8, 2006 Report Posted January 8, 2006 Piggy, The alfalfa and kelp are specifically for vitamin E and Iodine The picture of the redcell and more information is on the other topic <URL>
T_T Posted January 15, 2006 Report Posted January 15, 2006 Never used Red Cell but someone once told me it supplies extra oxygen to the blood and is used for horses. I remember one Saturday afternnoon a light Ch H dropped on my roof and the condition of this pigeon dazzled me. I have NEVER before then or since, seen a pigeon with so much colour on it's neck. She eventually came in and I contacted the owner asking him how he got his pigeons in such condition. His reply was MOLLASES, again used for horses and mixed with their feed. I personally took the hen back to him and found his pigeons were all the same. This guy just added it to the pigeons drinker. Do I use it ? NO ! Pigeon products for pigeons. Johnsons Pigeon Tonic.!! But then, I'm a bit old fashioned.
carl Posted January 15, 2006 Report Posted January 15, 2006 Where can i purchase red cell from as the system i will be flying this year has red cell to be used on a sunday mixed with brewers yeast on the corn
T_T Posted January 15, 2006 Report Posted January 15, 2006 Carl, Most, suppliers of horse supplements will have it or will be able to get you it.
Guest Posted January 15, 2006 Report Posted January 15, 2006 Part of business success is to convince you that you cannot do without the firm's product, that its better than any other firm's product and, in pigeons, that you cannot possibly win without using it. Take DMG as a typical example, 'coming home like rockets' 'can't win without it' - pity they forgot to mention DMG is present in the everyday grains that we feed our birds and is also a natural intermediate product in food digestion. 'Pet foods' is a big multi-billion £$ business worldwide. They are not in it for the good of the animal, or to help you ... they are in it for money ... your money.
jimmy white Posted January 15, 2006 Report Posted January 15, 2006 totally agree with you bruno, especially, after working for vydex at blackpool show saw fanciers hand over 4 hundred pounds for products ,never seen there name on results, pigeon fanciers are being ripped off, but its their money, so good luck to them, wouldnt be me.
Guest shadow Posted January 16, 2006 Report Posted January 16, 2006 It nevers ceases to amaze me how much money some fanciers are prepared to waste sticking all the different tonics etc down a pigeons throat a lot not even meant for a pigeons consumption when all they are doing is making the makers rich. Good pigeons will fly their skins off on good corn basic grit and minerals and clean water .Nothing was ever won out of a bottle. fly hard fly fair
Guest Posted January 27, 2006 Report Posted January 27, 2006 Is it no good to give the birds ? (REDCELL)

Guest slugmonkey Posted February 20, 2006 Report Posted February 20, 2006 I think every body is searching for the magic bullet I try new things and some work some don't the key is dont commit whole flock unless you are sure something works I give a multitude of products in off season but I feel that is the time to build, races are won and lost this time of year I think a lot of guys dump something in the water 2 weeks before the races start and just because they dont win they think it dosent work I give red cell and belive it helps me win, is it the key to my success NO but I also give garlic, cider vinegar, vita preen, brewers yeast, calf manna, probiotics, alfalfa, and kelp to name a few I give these in the OFF SEASON next year just for fun train a little over the winter and don't give your birds " Barley and Pellets " or any other inferior feed as most cut diet during winter just fly them out and train a little and see if you dont do better then after that try building in the off season with some vitamins and minerals look at your birds when you start the season and when you finish you will find the birds arent NEARLY as torn up as the ones that were left alone all winter

birdman55678 Posted December 28, 2006 Report Posted December 28, 2006 I have used red cell for at least the last 10 years. I buy it by the gallon and add one cap full of it to the water container (1 1/2 gallon), I use it once per week. Ed
Saffer Posted December 28, 2006 Report Posted December 28, 2006 Chaps I have used Red-Cell, great product, cheap and effective. What about Johnsons Pigeon Tonic, been around for years, same type of product. Never tried Johnsons myself, but its been around for years. Anyone use it Still, or is it old hat now? Regards Saffer
