Guest cowboy Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 help what is the best corn mix 2 feed this time of year
ChrisMaidment08 Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 moulting mix oor barly depends on preferance and money versa lager
ALF Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 Dont think it really matters too much what you feed them as long as the feeding is sound i went to buy feeding about 3 weeks ago and the guy was on the phone when i went in so i had a look at all the feeding samples and ended up buying Beattie's winter mix as it looked the best feeding of the lot on offer and was £9.25 for 25kg so cant complain there ( i was actually in to buy moulting mix but glad i had the chance to have a look at all the feeding on offer )
OLDYELLOW Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 feed them pleny of protein and a small amount of Linseed till the first flytes up then feed them 75% barley 25 race mix avoid too much maize as it will make your hens fat and you'l have problems when it comes to laying
Guest cowboy Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 so is allrounder no good thistime year
OLDYELLOW Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 all rouders fine all year round but you dont want fat on the hens prior to pairing up so once moults through knock them down as i said above a small amount of linseed till first flyte up
Guest Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 mine are on 50% irish mix and 50% barley but get out to exercise weather permitting. keeps the fat off them dave

rooster Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 the feed at this time of year is the most important one , pigeons only get one suite to wear for the year , not like us we can swop and change ours , plenty of warm baths a good mixture of corn and seed , plus oil on the corn a couple of times a week one of the best i think is sedochol , happy moulting :-/
ChrisMaidment08 Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 i asume so someone on here may now doug nesbit rugely
Guest Vic Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 I'm amazed at some responses, surely it depends on whether you are feeding birds , that have been subjected to the darkness system or not. The mind boggles with some of the so called modern fanciers replies. lol
jimmy_bulger Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 meself i feed 80% breeding mix 20% homoform and johnsons tonic in water every other day when finished the noult they go on depuritive untill a week before pairing up
ChrisMaidment08 Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 well i aint modern im dark ages
jimmy_bulger Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 never been on darkness and never will.
OLDYELLOW Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 hormoform good all year round , my young birds are natural and i aint thinking of changing just yet
ChrisMaidment08 Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 i consider food to be of equal use-all year and only change if beneficial to birds
Guest Vic Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 meself i feed 80% breeding mix 20% homoform and johnsons tonic in water every other day when finished the noult they go on depuritive untill a week before pairing up That's more like it Jim, I feed breed and wean, all the way through, till late. November. Depending on pairing time, then three solid weeks BARLEY, plus the normal, (mainly liquid) additives. Vic.
murphy Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 Once the moult ends put them on 100% barley, until 2 weeks before you want to pair.
OLDYELLOW Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 everyone has different methods none right none wrong
