jonjon Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 would it be possable to feed just one mix say an good breeding mix then useing say barley early part of week for oldens and adding mazie at the end of the week and the same with ybs or just use energy plus at end of week to try and keep it simple
red1chq3 Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 If you go to Jos Thone web page, thats what he seems to do, he has a basic mix and adds to it as neccessary.
Tony C Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 Nothing wrong with that at all, just dont make your base mix a to heavy a one if your thinking of racing sprint/middle distance.
jonjon Posted October 15, 2008 Author Report Posted October 15, 2008 will have to have an look thanks
allenyeates Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 Test it out and see. I and my mate does very similar . Just make sure the mix is lite early in the week and then add to it Thurs/Fri or Wednes/Thurs depending on distance/basketing etc
jonjon Posted October 15, 2008 Author Report Posted October 15, 2008 i was thinking of useing an yb mix by beyers or breeding plus
allenyeates Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 Breeding mix is fine for a bit of distance but I personally feel abest all round mix (versal laga etc) would be better for shorter races when watered down
allenyeates Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 What ever we feed our birds we must not forget to give them plenty of grit and minerals. I find Kilpatricks great as it has a bag of black minerals inside. Plenty of FRESH green food and good seaweed. The latter and an elderberry concentrate help with respiritory infections.
Wiley Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 i feed a base mix all yr round and has a very high protein content, they moult out lovely aswell
mark Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 i feed a base mix all yr round and has a very high protein content, they moult out lovely aswell like i said before if the only food available was beans and wheat or barley they would still moult through ok to many fancy mixes out there now. when they invent a go faster pigeon food i might be up for a couple of bags. lol ;D
wilkins Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 use vesa lage super widow as the base no barley in it so add barlry at times , maize at times , peas at times and of course fats
