rasbull Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 What do people find is the best way to obtain max exercise around the loft in relation to feeding? In the past I have let out my birds hungry and they have landed all to quickly looking to re-enter the loft looking to be fed. Then I have let out the birds after being fed and find they will not trap and stay out for hours just sitting on roof tops etc? So when is the best time to feed in relation to exercising around the loft?
OLDYELLOW Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 get your self a routeeen and stick to it feed twice a day at same time and feed after your birds have ben out for 45 minutes am and pm , your birds will get to know the times and will in turn become more managable
Guest cloudview Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 try a quarter feed , one hour before you turn them out
aye ready Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 agree with oldyellow stick to the letter regards times u feed, pigeons do not like changes, once the lighter mornings/evenings come in this is achievable right now i'm just feeding once a day, don't start regimental feeding/exercise till after young birds are weaned and birds are ready for roundabout
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 try a quarter feed , one hour before you turn them out agree with you, it is better to give a small feed shortly before you turn them out as it is hard to get hungry birds to fly a lot around the loft
jimmywylie Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 i give them some barley half hour before i turn them out,i let one loft out ,then 15 mins later let another loft out, then stick the flags up for 1 hour, morning .same proceedure late after noon.give them mixture when finished exercising.
Guest kev d Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 why dont you take them on a short chuck say ten miles then a small feed , then let them out again to mess about that ten mile chuck will do more than flapping around the loft try it and see every night if you can . cheers kev d
