Wiley Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 I must be crackers but what I've always done is sieve out all the small stuff from whatever breeding mix I've been using and feed them only on the big grains for the first week of being weaned. Nothing worse than seeing a squeaker only eating small grains and running around with its wings open. tony we do something simiular but for the first 3 days our ybs recieve only big beans, tic beans and peas mix, the next 3 days they recieve only cribs maize, so that the young birds are used to taking the big grains, after that straight on the yb mix
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 Once yb are weaned we will put them on Marimans Liege which is a mixture of quality peas and beans within it, after a few weeks we will lighten the mixture up. strange : : Although Marimans is owned by Versle laga i find that Marimans liege is even better than VL liege which has always been quailty as well.
DeDarren Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 We have followed the system from 'Cracked It' volume 1 avidly for a number of years now and have found our young pigeons to take to the air and be flying between 4 & 6 weeks earlier than in the seasons before we used this system and we found that they are flying for much longer periods right from the outset. They are basically given a high protein diet until they are all perching and then we change over to Beyers diat mixture for the remainder of the darkness period. We also provide them during this time with a drink based on whey protein 3 times a week so a quality protein intake with a huge helping of all the vital amino acids is maintained. We also provide daily baths (though they don't always bath every single day). Only when we start training does the mixture change to a 50/50 young bird & diat. On this regime, our young pigeons hold lovely light bodies with silky feathering. They zip through the moult like nobody's business and thanks to the easy digestibility of the feed, we have excellent control of them from an early age which stays with them for life.

What is the system?
