jimmy white Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 I notice a lot of fanciers talking about feeding there pigeons peanuts.. Can anyone recommend a particular brand or type..?? red skin peanuts for human consumtion are probably the best,, but very expensive indeed,,, far to expensive for me ;D i have purchased top quality johnstone and jeff peanuts , these are not for human consumtion,,, but i eat them and love them ;D ;D ;D , on the bag [again] it says 99.9 p.c. purity i simply put some in the microwave for a min or two, and reckon this takes any mould or nasties that might just be on them,, i eat mine raw though, theve never done me any harm ;D ;D ;D it must be remembered that peanuts are full of protein and very fattening [im 9 stone 5 ;D], i find them usefull in bringing up youngsters after 10 days old , just a few , also i found they were good to put a little weight and body on to the distance birds,,, pigeons love peanuts and beleive in a little of what they fancy does them good
jimmy white Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 Bread is human grade too, leave that out i call this,, using the loaf ;D ;D ;D
Tony C Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 i call this,, using the loaf ;D ;D ;D A good for nothing loafer, well thats what my wife keeps calling me ;D
jimmy white Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 my wife used to call me pee nuts ,,,the reason for this, i was brought up in a family of eleven,, all bed wetters ,, no money,,, one bed,, 6 at one end of the bed, 5 at the other end of the bed,, my wife asked me which end of the bed i slept in,, i told her,,,,the shallow end ;D ;D ;D ;D [not off topic peenuts ;D]

Guest TIMBARRA LOFTS Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 Peanuts are a great thing for pigeons if not overdone, i always found the little red skin ones best, and they are small and skin seems pink in appearance.
sapper756 Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 As stated b4, I always only use peanuts that are for human consumption, and never those in pet shops for wild birds
