FoxesFan4Ever Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 Hi again, OK I have been advised that I should be giving my YB's a conditioning seed in the morning and I was told to buy some hemp seed and a few others and make my own. I have looked online to find some idea of what goes in these mixes but there is loads of different kinds and although I suspect that they are all going to have some benefit for the birds I was wondering if someone could possibly give me a list..maybe 4 or 5 types of seed to make a good mix up. I only have 15 babies so not at the stage yet where I need a 20k bag. Thanks for any and all help Foxes Never Quit
Guest TIMBARRA LOFTS Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 hemp.. budgie seed.. dari..groats..mung beans
pigeonman007 Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 I was told to use red band pigeon conditioner which I bought a small bag of. It smells of aniseed, the birds seem to like it, but it is a bit pricey. Cost me £4.50 for a kilo.
OLDYELLOW Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 Oldyellow seed mix is as follows , equal quantitys of Hempseed , black rapeseed , linseed , budgie seed canaryseed and Dari , i would only use my condition seed whilst racing as will encourage the moult or for darkness ybs , dari is the best part of this and can be used for trapping on its own , as tastes sweet to pigeons the fanciers on the continent call it the candy seed i give my widowers half a teaspoon on trapping am and pm and those that have used my seed mix have improved there trapping
