tommy.walsh Posted November 7, 2009 Report Posted November 7, 2009 Could any please tell me a feeding system to use
showman Posted November 7, 2009 Report Posted November 7, 2009 Think everyone would need some more info....ie.what system you are going to race etc, etc.
tommy.walsh Posted November 7, 2009 Author Report Posted November 7, 2009 im only sixteen im only after starter wit pigeons and going to race them but i think i would need a feeding system but i dont know any so i though i would just ask
Guest frank dooman Posted November 7, 2009 Report Posted November 7, 2009 tommy i will give you mine i dont know if its right but it works for me 1st of all showman was asking are you flying natural/widowhood /rounabout i fly roundabout i will start with sat birds comming home from the race i feed one ounce breed&wean and another ounce at nite sun the same 1 ounce breed&wean morning and nite mon versalage gerry+mon/tues/wed morning then super wodowhood wed pm untill frid 12pm as the races go out i will pull every thing a day forward from mon till thur and then on the thur pm i will feed 1 ounce of enzy mix or bucktons high energy i hope this helps there are many ways but i think the most important thing is the quanty you give over feeding is worse than under feeding
tommy.walsh Posted November 7, 2009 Author Report Posted November 7, 2009 Thanks very much frank.i havnt raced yet come january i am waiting on rings to race young birds i ve so many pigeons and am trainng them from most racing spots an have plenty of birds home on the day i ve good stock from many fancyers around dublin...but at my age i ve a lot to learn and am willing to try everything as to achieve a spot in the racing system.....i know i ive a lot to learn any help would do lads ....thanks a million
Guest frank dooman Posted November 7, 2009 Report Posted November 7, 2009 y/birds keep it simple at pos. breed&wean all week but only 1 ounce morn./nite after you get your team established then you can tweak it
tommy.walsh Posted November 7, 2009 Author Report Posted November 7, 2009 sorry for wasting ur time lads if i am .but if i dont ask ill never know i ve tryed mixing seeds such as mazie barley peas sunflowers seeds peanuts chicken pellets an so on to mention such a few...how simple sould i keep it any advice would help...should i just stick to a certen mix or do i have to change it as the months go on.....thanks
Guest frank dooman Posted November 7, 2009 Report Posted November 7, 2009 your not wasting any bodys time if you dont ask you will never learn anything new ,what works for some might not work for you but as a new start i would keep it simple stick to the made up mixes there is nothing wrong with adding to them if you feel you need to but most feeding manufacturers have spent alot of money paying dietatitions( sory for spelling )to come up with the right mix for all occations so they wont be that far out as time goes on you might want to try something new watch for local fanciers that are doing well and see if you can go round and learn from them the one bit of advice i would give a new start is stay quiet look and listen when they tell you something and dont be afraid to ask if your not sure good luck
Guest frank dooman Posted November 7, 2009 Report Posted November 7, 2009 sory tommy my feeding is aimed at keeping them right to go to the distance that would prob. change if you are looking to compete at sprint races maybe some of the sprint men could advise
showman Posted November 8, 2009 Report Posted November 8, 2009 As Frank says you're not wasting anyones time. You would agree you have lot to learn, as do we all. There is one sure thing Tommy...and that is nobody knows it all, we keep learning. Again agree with Frank, maybe best to keep with ready to use mixtures. You will probably find that maybe some mixtures the guys on the mainland are using simply may not be available to us in Ireland. Get your basics right first, then you can start to tinker with things. Remember you have to walk before you can run. Take your time & be patient...a great virtue in pigeon racing !! There's a load of guys on here from the Dublin area who will soon get to know you, an will be more than willing, I'm sure to give you 1 to 1 guidance. Best wishes, and keep your questions coming !!
