feel for you mate but dont give up hope clever buggers the old doo is a mate of mine lost one of his training second toss last year bird came back a month later gave the bird a rest and then sent it to last race of the season was his first bird back and if i remember rightly scored highly in fed and club so theres always hope if the bird not back today im shore it will be first thing tomorrow for you i would prefure to loose them 20 miles from home than 100+ miles more of a chance you will see the bird again

all the best.

Best o luck mate. You're down to three but mine aint started yet. Mine will still be there at Tarbes international though. Too keen too soon me thinks. But then when I sent to Palamos I started the season with just 3 cocks ;)

Pleased that you got your bird back.  :)

Got to agree with Peterpau. My first year flying, I paired up early January, and trained early March when weather was still cold. Dropped 5 before we even got to the 1st race in April and was left with 7 to race at start of the season. Game over after just 4 races. May till April is a very long time to sit it out especially knowing I'd made a cod of it.  :(

i agree it is to cold but would i not lose more jumping them into the longer races without letting them do the shorter ones first theses birds only done 2 races last year as ybs and they were kept in all through winter. i have never breed from these . but i know theyve got it in them to go to most of the races might just be my management skills.

You can realy take liberties jumping 'em in good flying weather. My yearlings and late breds wont come out till May, 1st race 122 mile June 5th then out to 280 mile with the old hen National ;) 515 mile for the Yearlings that flew as young uns Bordeaux BBC  ;)

I'd meant to post yesterday about a yearling hen raced in 2009; but could skip that because the penny has just dropped with me that as a Natural flyer flying both cocks and hens, because of the hen's 28-day egg cycle, it's common for my hens to miss races, sometimes  consecutive races, because they are eggy, and they are being jumped all the time.

2009 race season started @ 52 miles on 18th April. The yearling hen started 9th May @ 157 miles, flew 257 miles on 30th May, 157 miles on 13th June and 375 miles on 20th June. She would have gone further, but came home from that last race with her crop torn open.
