mamun2a Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 somebody told me that cut wings bird does not lay egg. is it true? i cut 5 feathers to avoid their leaving, though 1 left me and still their wing has not grow. what should i do? in the pix brown one is died, ash one left me. next white 2 become a pair. but they r too young coz when 14-12-09 i collect them they still chime, now they sound as regular pigeons. i still dont know to define male n female, so i suffer for making a new pair. i ve 6 total now, and the caged pair are mature enough to lay egg said the seller. mamun2a, Dhaka
peterpau Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 cutting feathers will do no harm. more important you need to make the birds love their home. They will lay if they are content
Guest IB Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 Cutting feathers will not stop pigeons laying eggs. If you cut both wings, the bird can still fly away, cut only one wing and that stops the pigeon flying away. Very hard to tell cock or hen when pigeons are very young. Easier when they are 3/4 months old.
mamun2a Posted February 4, 2010 Author Report Posted February 4, 2010 thnx Peter n IB. now i relaxed. i will get their ordered nest/loft 2night. n wt 4 they becoming 4months old.
pjc Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 Only ever cut one wing and the flights will only grow back when the bird goes through the moult. How old are the birds that havn't laid yet?
mamun2a Posted February 4, 2010 Author Report Posted February 4, 2010 i dont know. but when 1rst 4 i bought [14-12-09] that time they may full feathered but sounding like baby pgon. now they do not sound like chick. the sellers said [29-01-2010] that these r around 3 months old. nyway, from where this forum/site operates?
pjc Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 they won't want to pair up and lay at 3 months old!
gulkie Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 mamun instead off cutting any feathers ,just rub in to the flight feathers of one wing [washing up liqued] this will unbalance the bird and it will wear of slowly when u think the bird has settled give it a bath. and u don't have to wait for it to moult. ur young birds are to young to lay eggs. pactence is a virtue. good luckm8.
mamun2a Posted February 4, 2010 Author Report Posted February 4, 2010 OK. i ve an matured pairs, n hopes they lay egg shortly. does we use human medicine by low dose for Birds treatment?
FoxesFan4Ever Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 Hi Mamun, I am no expert but I would say definitely do not use human medicine for your birds. At the very least, if you are not sure come here and tell those that will know more than us ALL of the symptons of your birds illness and someone will give you good advice on treatment. My own advice and all I feel able to give is that you must give clean, fresh and unpolluted water and good quality food every day and that will help more than anything to keep your birds healthy. The same rule applies to pigeons as it does to humans, dogs, cats etc...prevention is ALWAYS better than the cure. Good luck my friend!!
mamun2a Posted February 4, 2010 Author Report Posted February 4, 2010 thanx fox 4 ur suggestion. i'm worried bcoz 2 of my pgon died with illness. gud luk
ch pied Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 :) :)mamun , what time is it where your are :) :)
Guest ROCKYandRAMBO Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 i cut one of my best racers wings once when trying to break him in and he managed to fly 30 miles back to his old loft took him a week so i will never try this again , but i would go with the surgestion of using fairy liquid on one wing but when you rub it in make cure the fearthers are all pipey , if your pigeons are dyiing i would get some cider vinegar in the water and some yougut on the corn as blind treating will do no gd
