I think the lighter the colour is - the sparser the down is (but not sure)

Hi, your yellows are dilute red and dilute youngsters have less down therefore all the young with less down are dilute. Depends what colour the white is but if the youngster has full down then it will be a red or whatever the other parent birds colour is.

yup yellows are nearly bald if have loads of down could be white or coloured but not yellow or silver
