greenlands Posted March 4, 2010 Report Posted March 4, 2010 Just been ratching round a few pigeon sites and found this, like all theories some will knock it and some won't.There are a few interesting answers to this one. Lindsay. " Heard of a fellow once that claimed he could sex the birds as soon as the eggs were laid, I could be wrong as it was some time ago I spoke to him but I am sure that he said that the egg with the cock had a more pointed end whereas the hen had a more rounded end". :-/ :-/

Guest WINGS 04 Posted March 4, 2010 Report Posted March 4, 2010 The best way to no if it's a ck or hen is when the one that lays the egg it a hen and the one the dose not is the ck found this is 99.99% right only time it is wrong is when the hen is barn ;D ;D ;D
pjc Posted March 4, 2010 Report Posted March 4, 2010 I thought the theory was more to do with which egg was 1st laid
greenlands Posted March 4, 2010 Author Report Posted March 4, 2010 Here's one of the replies. "Whoever told you that Hero was correct and the cock egg is always more pointed than a hens, the tricky bit is when the hen lays 2 eggs of the same sex. I have a mate who throws out the cock eggs and is about 98% correct in his picking the sex in the egg as his team are that percentage of hens. It's not something I would bother with myself as I have as much success with cocks as I do with hens even at the distance and flying to the perch." Lindsay
Guest Owen Posted March 4, 2010 Report Posted March 4, 2010 The first egg laid is usually a cock. I know nothing about pointed ends or rounded ends but I do know that this is right. Widowhood flyers who only want to single rare often use this first egg thing to give them more cocks than hens.
