AjW Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 Heyup This bird came down in a field opposite us on Friday. It's survived till today drinking river water and huddling on the bank. We figured it was a feral till we saw the rings so nipped out and have it here in a box with water and some seed/rice but it's not interested in either at the moment. There are no stamps on the wings. It's been attacked and cannot fly - but this might be due to the damaged flight feathers (secondaries mostly). Should I pull the broken feathers out? There is some flesh damage to the neck and breast but it's alert and fiesty, and has lived ok for 3 days. Thanks, Adam
REDCHEQHEN Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 Whereabouts are you Adam ? the bird is from a federation in the Durham area
AjW Posted April 26, 2009 Author Report Posted April 26, 2009 Hiya, we're just outside Nottingham. Spoke to our coal man who races them but he hasn't got any details for people in the NEHU. I've found a number for the NEHU so I'll call them tomorrow morning...
