Dozzie Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 Hi there I posted last night about this bird. He is currently in my cat box. I managed to get the green ring number which as far as I could see was GB 80 41893. He had managed to get 2 ft of string caught round his leg but the string is off his leg now. He also has a rubber ring on so has been racing I presume. Sorry I couldnt get his wing no. as he was growling at me!
hotrod Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 are you sure about the number (80) is its year of birth that would be 29 years old ,check to see if its 08 as in 2008,and there should be a letter after the year , it should be some thing like GB 08 V --------, or GB 08 S------- ,HOPE THIS HELPS.PS DONT WORRY IF IT BITES ITS NOT SORE.
Dozzie Posted May 6, 2009 Author Report Posted May 6, 2009 Oh god does that mean I have to catch him again. I thought I had doen really well! It could be 08 and I read it upside down LOL! The number is perpendicular to the rest of the numbers. I know nothing about pigeons! ;D Hopefully someone from here is going to come out for me this afternoon. I will have another look but he is a bit of a feisty one! The problem is my cat basket is one which is completely covered except for the front so I have to wait for him to come forward! Pigeon numpty here! He is very pretty though! Could it be GB 08 A1893?
Tony C Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 Your doing a great job Dozzie, your efforts are appreciated.
Back garden fancier Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 If you get the correct ring number, it will be easy to trace the owner. Just be patient and see if you can read it. If it's green, then it is 08 not 80!
Dozzie Posted May 6, 2009 Author Report Posted May 6, 2009 Yes it is green. LOL! I must have read it upside down! I do think the 4 could be an A. And I am really sorry if I have messed up his race but I had to get the string off.
Dozzie Posted May 6, 2009 Author Report Posted May 6, 2009 I have just managed to read the tel code no. It is 01584 which is a Ludlow no. Cant see the rest yet but will keep trying. Sorry to be so rubbish! The no. on his rubber racing ring is 7397 but not sure if that would help.
Peckedhen Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 Hey Dozzie -= don't apologise, you are doing a great job with this little pidge. And you haven't messed his race up at all....... if he didnt get home within a short time, he's not going to have won! ;D He's either got lost and too tired to continue or has hurt himself so he can't fly. Hopefully someone will help you to get him home now. Thank you for all your efforts. :)
Dozzie Posted May 6, 2009 Author Report Posted May 6, 2009 Thank you everyone who helped me out in my panic last night! LOL! Percy Pigeon has been picked up (thanks Allen) and identified and will hopefully be home soon. My dogs are a little disappointed as they were hoping to have a snack when I went out. I have to say despite managing to pick him up I dont think I will get into pigeon racing! I will stick to horses. Best of luck to everyone. Thanks again. Dozzie PS If any of you ever find a horse , post on the horse and hound forum and we will help you too!
