Dodgy Trapper Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 Hi to all, One of my young birds has ripped off one of its wing. It looks as if bird is feeling very sore. Have put some vasalene on it Just a quick question, will this make any difference to the bird when flying in the futere.
Roland Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 Well with just on wing will probably spin of constantly sideways and go round in circles.
Dodgy Trapper Posted May 25, 2009 Author Report Posted May 25, 2009 At least i will not lose then. Boomarang Its not one of the complete wings just that little bit on the wing (like a dew claw on dogs feet i suppose). Its called Ba****d wing
Guest beautyhomer Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 Also known as the b*****d thumb.Should not affect the bird in straight flight but I think it is used like a brake when landing.
Guest IB Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 If the b*stard wing has gone, then so have the muscles that are attached to it. These extend the wing, so the bird will not be able to fly. Never heard of an injury like that before. Are you certain its not lost feather rather than bone?
white logan Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 Well with just on wing will probably spin of constantly sideways and go round in circles. it is only a problem spinning if it does it in reverse , it will end up like the foo foo bird and we know what happend to that ;D
