How to catch found pigeon

A healthy looking grey pigeon with 2 red bands around it's legs arrived on Sunday am. Still here - eating and drinking. We can see some numbers under the red elastic band on it's right leg but we can't catch it to read them! Anyone got any ideas how to trap it?

Welcome to the site, and thanks for the concern. How close can you get to it? if it was really hungry the box and the stick and cane trick would work, is there anyway you could usher it into a garage or shed? :-)

Put the feeder and drinker under an upturned box or cage, prop one side up with a stick attached to a piece of twine/string to the bottom of the stick, when the bird goes in pull the string and trap the bird inside, remove through the top of the box
