REDCHEQHEN Posted January 2, 2007 Report Posted January 2, 2007 Two weeks ago you could have purchased one at Lidl very cheaply, some shops may still have them - the rest are on e-bay :-/ http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BRESSER-BIOLUX-AL-MICROSCOPE-20x-1280x-USB-Eyepiece_W0QQitemZ150076242807QQihZ005QQcategoryZ48741QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem there are about 10 on there at the moment most are 'buy it now' items
THE FIFER Posted January 2, 2007 Report Posted January 2, 2007 my local lidl had them last week. look at ur local lidl they have them in often and they are good ones.
Chatrace Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 here is a shot showing a round worm egg it is brown , the 2nd one is about 800 power of same egg
Chatrace Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 Here is a Hair worm at 400 and also at almost 800 notice the green in color, instead ofg brown like the round worm egg
Chatrace Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 This is a 400 power of coccie and also one that shows Hair worm wih smaller size cocci eggs colors are as they will look
johnny11 Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 Chat race Are these samples from your own birds? John
Chatrace Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 No They were from another flyers in West VA. also if you buy the book by Colin Walker,The Flying Vet he has photos in the book that look almost like the ones I sent. but there are other shots showing other things. don't overload the slide with sample, give it room to float
johnny11 Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 It was just that I have been doing sampling now for a few years and have never seen that many eggs or cocci in one field John
Chatrace Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 Your birds must be in great health. At leat as far as Worms go. The idea of the photos are to show you what you are looking for, granted you may only see 1 worm egg ,maybe 2 but he cocci is always there if your looking
johnny11 Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 Chat It would be worth mentioning that alot of fanciers confuse urea crystals for cocci, and for the newcomer doing their own samples they could easily treat for the wrong thing Maybe you see it more there than here but cocci is not as readily seen as you may think Even some now are believing it should be eliminated all together during the racing season so they treat even if they see one. do you use a direct smear or flotation John
Chatrace Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 Flotation, I make several samples from a mix of random droppings, unless I have birds in seperate pens . Then I check each bird
