hi all just a quick introduction ,ive always wanted to race pigeons but either work or where i was living has stopped me from doing so,now ive got a garden and some spare time ive decided to take the plunge at the moment i dont have any birds i want to get most of my equiptment first and pick everybodys brains for tips and general  info speak to you soon ...pete

Peter J !!!!!!! A big welcome to our site  :) :) :). A lot of great help is to be had here if you ask etc, & if you read everything which is available here. There is not enough hours in the week to absorb it all. But at the end of the day ?????????? you will be much more experienced  ;) ;) ;) in this hobby of ours, or you will be totally confused & bewildered   :P :P :P.

sorry should of mentioned in my intro i was a bit of a ba****d as a kid but i was always interested in birds tho so my old man got me to knock a shack up [i say shack rather than shed cos of the state of it] and gave me two pair of fantails he got off a mate i got the pigeon bug off these birds but wanted the excitement and anticipation  when ,where and if they where coming home and its stayed with me...pete

Well done, its suprising how the bug bites!

If you know anybody or can find anybody local to you it would be a good idea to get to know them and shadow them to learn about racing and careing for the birds. This would give you time and ideas on your own loft design ready to start.

there are a good few fanciers by me,i dont know if its my approach they they seem a bit suspicous[sp] ,i like the look of the starter loft that theres a link to on this site in somebodys thread...pete
