Roland Posted November 3, 2019 Report Posted November 3, 2019 (edited) I started a new topic to get away from the last as such ... Read some of the following. I've added a lot of my views which I believe. I feel this just about sums up the English and their' loss, and mine, in my opinion.England head coach Eddie Jones has had a blinding tournament and, tactically, has been excellent throughout. But on this occasion South Africa coach Rassie Erasmus was awesome. Wherever England attacked, the Springboks had a defence to smother it!.England's World Cup final defeat against South Africa was desperately disappointing. One must admit that. The way England have played at this World Cup and the depth of players we have as a group, this was probably and most likely the right squad to challenge for the trophy. It hurt to see Snickler go straight off though.England fans will all be feeling totally dejected but nowhere near as upset as the players and management will be.They were so far off winning that game. It is weird, though I feel dejected, it does not feel quite as bad as if South Africa had nicked it at the death with a last-minute penalty or drop-goal. I must admit England just were not good enough.I never felt for one minute that England was in a position to score points then run away with it. It was going to be a battle to the death, and unfortunately, the Springboks seemed to be more capable of winning a World Cup final. Reminds me of a few short years back when England supposedly had a fantastic defence etc. Clear favourites to win the six nations etc. Wales though hadn't read the same script. They turned out a hardened lot of old pros that batter and bruised and destroyed England! Many that day never got another game for England. Weren't tough enough to take a hit. This Squad is.Like Ashden sent in the final W.C. 2007. A team for the final against S. Africa. Yes, they tried and held their own, but just weren't good enough.England has learned a big lesson. Those players are going to remember that for the rest of their' lives and hopefully store it up to say they are never going to feel like that again, never going to make those mistakes under that sort of pressure again and they will come back as better players. Indeed that squad are all young enough to be at the next World Cup. Will take a good lad to prise a way to be good enough to get in. Will have to be a proven and robust player, that's for sure.
