blue lad Posted July 21, 2019 Report Posted July 21, 2019 My next door neighbour has a fishing boat and are currently on standby duty. And half dozen gb birds on board. Only problem is he is approximately 130 miles east of Dundee. He's got a week to go before he returns home. If I get ring numbers I will post them up on site .That's what happens when a perigine goes into race birds along the coast. Wonder how many other are on rigs and boats this evening?
john cumming Posted July 22, 2019 Report Posted July 22, 2019 Stevie Usually we get a lot out with us but so far this year we have not seen a doo which is a rarety. Plenty owls. Sparrowhawks n a peregrine and the odd crow n hundreds of migrating birds. N we are directly east of fraserburgh on the Britannia platform John
blue lad Posted July 22, 2019 Author Report Posted July 22, 2019 Hi John my neighbour said this morning another 15 came off rigs and landed on boat as the half dozen were flying around. He's not caught any as yet.But feeding them rice and water on top of shelter deck . He's got a week to go.Doesn't think there's enough rice for that amount of birds. As four Philippineos are Going through more than a kg a peace per day. It's tragic.
leslie24williams49 Posted July 24, 2019 Report Posted July 24, 2019 Every rig should have a bag of birdseed on board, cheap enough these days do their thing for the environment, phillipinos won't be so eager to eat that stuff.
